Portrait of Alex Pretti Defending his city
Drawing out of rage
I drew this portrait of Alex Pretti out of rage. Like so many of you, I spent yesterday with my brain on fire. Another person gunned down on the streets of an American city by this occupying army, and then their chud defenders turning the murder into a meme.
As I read the news about Alex Pretti’s murder, I was struck by the photo of him, taken right before he got a face full of paper spray from agents of our Temu Death Squad. He looks utterly composed. His sort of calm is only possessed by those who have seen terrible things — and any ICU nurse has seen their share of horrors — and know they are capable of behaving how they ought to anyway. The square jaw, the athletic stance, the physical protectiveness of a woman… all of these are attributes that men on MAGA right claim to possess. Pretti was the sort of man that so many of them cosplay as, but could never be.
That photo laid it bare.
So I drew it. I slopped the red gouache onto the paper like blood.

And now we’ll have to endure an onslaught of grotesque lies from a collection of two-bit fascists, who defile religious doctrine in service of a criminal oligarchy.
Your painting is perfect.
