Despite the racist smears, the coddled Zionists, the pissbaby billionaires, the op-ed pages sour at their own irrelevance. Despite the Ackmans and the Schumers and the threats of ICE invasion issuing from Trump’s puckered anus of a mouth, we made Zohran Mamdani mayor of the greatest city on earth.
When I joined DSA eight years ago, I never could have dreamed that our dorky little meetings would one day build a force capable of leading New York City. I think of all the arguments over procedure, all the banners we painted on bedsheets, how we stood out in the cold till our brains went numb demanding electricity in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria, all the circles we marched in and leaflets we passed out and parties we threw and races for local offices we won and lost, all leading up to this moment.
