We Heart New York
On Zohran Mamdani and loving our city - VOTE
I am a New York patriot. America I can take or leave, but my hometown has my heart. I love this bitch goddess of a city, and I would defend her with my blood and soul. I love her despite her rats and flooded subways, despite her red-eyed screaming freaks and stinking garbage mountains, despite her murderous rents and developer-gouged scars. New York you are my always. Me and you baby. To the end.
New York, I love you enough to know it shouldn’t be this hard.
Every one of us who’s from here sees how this city is being gutted by the rich. We see the old people thrown out of their rent stabilized apartments, their tenements replaced with glass filing cabinets for yuppies. We see how everything that is working class, that is artistic, that rooted, that is old, that is human, gets squeezed into smaller and small pockets, while the city we built is turned into a playground for balayage-dyed Lulu Lemons and repellent Hedge fund Bretts. We see the place of our love turned into the placeless nowhere beloved by finance capital
Tomorrow we have a chance to take our city back.
I already voted. If you haven’t, vote for Zohran Mamdani
Vote for Zohran because you love this city. Because you want people to be able to afford to raise their kids here. Because old ladies should be able to stay in their homes, not be chucked on the street when hedge funds buy their buildings. Because the rent is too damn high. Because every weekday at the immigration court on 26 Federal Plaza, ICE is kidnapping our neighbors. Because the billioniares think that they own this town, and have to be taught a lesson.
Vote for Zohran because he loves New York too. All of it. Papi Juice. Toñitas. The joints where taxi drivers eat near La Guardia airport. Yiddish bookstores and Chinese old folks homes and South Brooklyn mosques. Vote for him because he has sought to speak to every part of this jagged mosaic of a place - even the parts that slander and defame him — because they also belong to New York. This is our city. All of ours.
Right now, Zohran looks poised to win. Looks is the operative word. Nothing is written. On primary night, Cuomo also thought the mayorship was his. Vote. Canvas. Phonebank. Text all your friends to make them vote.
Over the next day and a half, we have the chance to seize history.
We can show the billionaires an essential truth.
This city belongs to us.

I would’ve, if I could’ve, moved to NYC just to vote for Zohran. Good reminder from you this morning!
Every single ounce of my energy and love is going to your City and the place that I love an awful lot. He is going to be a kick ass mayor and one that really personifies all the things that make NYC better than any place on this planet. GO ZOHRAN! And thanks for all your hard work Molly.
